Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in the United States and is an American photographer and journalist. For more than forty-five years she has focused on documenting human suffering, primarily during war and natural catastrophes. Curry reported on conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter and journalist. Her most renowned work was for being a correspondent of the Today Show, which was a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry became known in particular for her reporting of catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry has a father who was an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Curry's parents bonded in Japan in Japan, in which her father was stationed following World War II. Her father served in the military and her family had to move around often. They finally settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. She earned a journalism diploma from the University of Oregon in 1978. She was exposed to a variety of cultures and experiences during her upbringing may have influenced her empathy method of communication regarding international matters. The broadcasting profession began with an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she was the first journalist female for the station. She subsequently moved to the position of an anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. Four years later she moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV.
